In a developing story, two hikers on the PCT sent out a beacon signal from somewhere in Chelan County, and two search and rescue teams have been unable to locate them so far. Officials aren’t clear what caused the hikers to activate their beacon, and they are waiting for the weather to clear so they can initiate a helicopter search.

Now, KOMO reports that the hikers are safe.
