Ventress Is Back... But There's Still Only One Story I Want To See
Asajj Ventressthrillingly returned to Star Warsin Star Wars: The Bad Batch, but one pivotal Ventress story still hasn't been shown in Star Wars movies and TV shows—and it's the story I most want to see. Ventress has proven to be one of Star Wars' most interesting villains (if she can even be considered a villain anymore). After being introduced into the canon in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Count Dooku's Sith assassin, her story arc became much more complex when she was cast aside by Dooku and began working as a seemingly apolitical bounty hunter.
This was made even more complicated when Ventress then decided to help Ahsoka Tano when she was falsely accused of murder and on the run. Ventress' Bad Batch return took this one step further, with Ventress showing up with a yellow lightsaber—suggesting she may be on the light side of the Force now—and testing Omega's potential Force sensitivity. This update to Ventress' story was unquestionably exciting, but it actually builds upon one much more important Ventress story that has yet to get its on-screen debut.
It's Exciting To See More Ventress Return... But We Need More
Hopefully, The Bad Batch Was Just The Beginning
Seeing Ventress return in The Bad Batch was both surprising and thrilling, particularly because the conclusion of her story in The Clone Wars had been open-ended. The fact that she was wielding a yellow lightsaber and was willing to help the Bad Batch crew and Omega only made this even more exciting. Ideally, though, this would only be the beginning.
It's clear that there is so much more to Ventress' story, both before The Bad Batch and afterward, and she is more than deserving of another Star Wars appearance, if not her very own spin-off show. Luckily, Star Wars has already confirmed that Ventress will be back in Star Wars, although the exact form that will take remains undefined. Ventress has returned in The Bad Batch comics, but all signs point to another on-screen return in Ventress' Star Wars future.
It's clear that there is so much more to Ventress' story, both before The Bad Batch and afterward.

Ventress' Most Incredible Story Arc Happened In A Canon Star Wars Book
One story that Star Wars could explore on screen in particular is one that many Star Wars audiences may not even be aware happened. In the canon novel Star Wars: Dark Disciple, written by Christie Golden, Asajj Ventress was actually redeemed just before she died. In Dark Disciple, the Jedi Council shockingly asked Jedi Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress to work together to assassinate Count Dooku, before the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

Despite Ventress being on the dark side at that time, and Vos being on the light, the two found a mutual understanding while on their quest, leading to them falling in love with each other. Sadly, Dooku got his hands on Vos and, through torture, he was able to corrupt Vos to the dark side. In an incredible twist, Ventress then did everything in her power to save Vos, resulting in her redemption but also, tragically, her death. This means that by the time The Bad Batch season 3 took place, Ventress had been resurrected.
Ventress then did everything in her power to save Vos, resulting in her redemption but also, tragically, her death.
This would be the perfect story for Star Wars to finally bring to the screen. Not only would this be an incredible story to get to see, but also, this arc is essential for audiences to understand Ventress' most recent Star Wars appearance and, presumably, any others. Without it, many viewers would likely be confused by Ventress' sudden shift. With Star Wars hinting that Ventress will be back, could this be showcased in an upcoming show?
Star Wars Has Begun Showing Canceled Clone Wars Stories
Ahsoka Tano's Tales Of The Jedi Arc Is One Such Example
Since The Clone Wars concluded, Star Wars has found ways to incorporate discarded plot lines from that show into brand-new Star Wars shows and other mediums. For Ventress, this happened in Dark Disciple, but Ahsoka Tano has also been a clear example of this approach to unused Clone Wars arcs. Like Ventress, Ahsoka had her story continued in a book, in her case, the Ahsoka novel, written by E.K. Johnston. There's been some debate about whether this story is still Star Wars canon, but, even so, the book offered insight into Ahsoka's life as a survivor of Order 66.

Ahsoka also had her story immediately following The Clone Wars expanded in yet another Star Wars show, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. In that show, previously discarded Ahsoka stories from The Clone Wars were finally shown on screen, such as her joining the Rebellion and reconnecting with Bail Organa at Padmé's funeral. With Star Wars' clear intentions to adapt some of these unused Clone Wars stories into other mediums, it seems safe to assume Ventress' Dark Disciple story could appear elsewhere.
Could We Get Ventress' Backstory In A New "Tales" Or Animated Story?
It Would Be Incredible To See This Arc On Screen—And Ventress Deserves It
There are a number of ways this story from Dark Disciple could be explored further. So far, Ventress has only appeared in animated Star Wars shows, so it's unclear whether the character will ever make the jump to live action. Whether she does or doesn't, though, this story between Ventress and Quinlan Vos could be explored in an upcoming Star Wars show, either by having a new show set during that time or by depicting it in flashback.
In fact, Obi-Wan Kenobi may already have set this possibility up. In that show, Obi-Wan discovered that Vos was among the Jedi who had survived Order 66 and was working with the Rebellion. It's very possible that Ventress and Vos will be reunited in an upcoming show, which could both capture this previous story on screen and provide an update to their love story.
At present, no such show has been announced. There are currently only two upcoming Star Wars shows confirmed: Andor season 2 and Ahsoka season 2. That will undoubtedly change, though, and in all likelihood sooner rather than later. Star Wars Celebration is taking place in April this year, and many are expecting some major announcements, especially in light of how few TV shows Star Wars currently has in the lineup.
Dark Disciple truly is one of Star Wars' most important Ventress stories, and while the arc being included in a book rather than in a show or movie certainly doesn't make it any less legitimate, it does mean fewer viewers are likely to be familiar with it. As Ventress' time in Star Wars (hopefully) only grows, it will be increasingly important for audiences to be aware of this arc. Ideally, this means that this Asajj Ventress story will be coming to Star Wars in an upcoming TV show.
