Wildfire Threatens Crystal Mountain Resort, Closes Parts of Rainier

The Norse Peak Fire has forced the closure of all the backcountry trails on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park.

Because of the Norse Peak Fire, Sunrise Road is closed from Route 410 to the junction near White River and Sunrise, and Crystal Mountain Resort had to evacuate on Tuesday. As King 5 put it, the fire is “bigger than the city of Tacoma”—and only 8 percent contained. More here.
