A 20-year-old Pennsylvania woman became fatally ill while hiking Conundrum Creek Trail last month. Officials confirm HAPE and HACE.

Susanna Deforest became ill while hiking the popular Conundrum Creek Trail this past August 17, but died overnight while waiting for rescue. The Pitkin County coroner’s report recently concluded that the 20-year-old woman became a victim of altitude sickness.
