WWE Royal Rumble Winner Jey Uso Addresses Winning The Most Stacked Event In Years: "It's My Turn"
The 2025 WWE Royal Rumble is in the books, and the Road to WrestleMania has begun, complete with returns, surprises, and shocks in both the men's and women's Rumble matches. In the more predictable finish of the two matches, Charlotte Flair returned to massive fanfare, conquered her competition by eliminating Roxanne Perez, and punched her ticket to WrestleMania, very likely to face Tiffany Stratton.
WWE decided to shock the wrestling world tonight by opting to give John Cena more struggle on his Farewell Tour and was eliminated by Jey Uso, who won the Men's Royal Rumble match. By allowing "Main Event" Jey Uso to not only be a part of the final two participants, with a back and forth nail-biting ending, and then eliminating John Cena during his final Rumble, WWE hitched its bright future on his back and cemented him as their newest top guy.
During the WWE post-show press conference, ScreenRant asked Uso what this win meant about his position with the company, and he said it's clear now that they trust him with this opportunity in this new, uncharted Netflix Era.
It means a lot, Uce. I think the company going forward with me, they trust me now. I'm not going to let them down. There was some heavy hitters in there. I was a heavy hitter, too. Like John [Cena] says, my time is now, man. My time is now. I was screaming that out there the whole night, man. It's my turn. It's my turn. Y'all are going to see. I'm just going to go up from here, man. This Yeet Train is just now getting started. I'm telling you, just let me rock, man. Let me keep cooking. Yeet.
WWE Trusts Jey Uso With Its Future
Jey Uso Knows His Time Is Now
With his shocking elimination of John Cena at the end of the Men's Royal Rumble match, Jey Uso shocked the 70,000-plus live crowd in attendance by attaining a win he was never thought to have been able to achieve. Uso was clear that he plans on challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, a title he failed to capture last week at Saturday Night's Main Event, and that he would be competing one of the two main events during WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. With a major win at Royal Rumble, Jey Uso is now charting a new course to his destiny, potentially his first WWE world heavyweight gold.
Jey Uso Seen By WWE As Their Newest Star
His Organic Momentum Was Impossible To Ignore
Since the COVID-19 pandemic shut live crowds down through 2020, WWE leaned into its massive Bloodline story and allowed Jey Uso to flourish as the initial foil to Roman Reigns' plans of familial domination. The quiet atmosphere and relaxed environment presented the product like a scripted weekly telenovela and gave Jey Uso an opportunity to present a new version of his character, as well as his range and depth as a player in Reigns' mind games.
As he began to break free from the grip of Reigns and forged his path as an unexpected main event player, Uso did something that most Superstars dream of: He got over with the crowd organically. With a fun catchphrase and impressive singles in-ring work, Uso proved he could be the next big thing, and WWE was finally ready to take him seriously.
