After almost three weeks of wildfire-caused closures, Yosemite Valley will reopen to visitors at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, the National Park Service has announced.

Visitors will be able to enter the Valley using one of three roads: Tioga, Big Oak Flat, and El Portal. (Wawona Road is still closed; officials estimate it will remain shuttered for at least another week due to ongoing fire operations.) In a press release, the NPS said that visitors could expect reduced hours and services for the time being.

Glacier Point and Hetch Hetchy remain closed.

“We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to the firefighters and incident command teams for their great efforts in suppressing the Ferguson Fire,” said Yosemite National Park Superintendent Michael Reynolds in the release. “We’d also like to express our gratitude and thanks to our gateway communities who tirelessly helped visitors to the area while they were being impacted by the fire.”

As of Monday morning, the fire had consumed a total of 96,547 acres, and was 86% contained. A total of 1,020 personnel, including 5 crews and 6 helicopters, were still fighting the blaze.
