Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episodes 3, 4 & 5 Recap And Ending Explained

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes 3, 4, & 5

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has just released its next batch of episodes, revealing Peter Parker's new partnership with Norman Osborn and several new MCU villains hitting the streets of New York. Having discovered Peter Parker's alter ego in the previous episode, Norman's plans for the future with Spider-Man are revealed, all while new threats and allies emerge in this alt-MCU timeline as Spider-Man continues to evolve into the hero he's meant to be. As such, there's a lot of ground to cover in the series' third, fourth, and fifth episodes.

In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes 1 & 2, Norman Osborn takes the place of Tony Stark in this alternate timeline by offering Peter a place in the Oscorp Internship Program. However, his true intentions are revealed in these new episodes, especially after he witnesses security footage of Peter changing into his Spider-Man costume. Keeping that in mind, here's our recap for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes 3, 4, & 5 and their endings explained.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episodes 3, 4 & 5 Recap

"Secret Identity Crisis", "Hitting The Big Time", & "The Unicorn Unleashed"

  • In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 3, Norman invites Peter to dinner, confirming he knows he's Spider-Man and that he wants to help him become a better hero, owing Peter a debt of gratitude for saving his son Harry.
  • Two criminals, Maria "Tarantula" Vasquez and James "Speed Demon" Sanders, purchase mysterious tech from a robotic dumpster, bearing the same logo as the gloves worn by Butane in the previous episode.
  • Lonnie's brother Andre is caught up with the 110th St. gang. In exchange for Andre being left alone, Lonnie joins the gang led by Big Donovan.
  • Offering his services to Peter as his "Man in the Chair", Norman helps Spider-Man defeat Tarantula and Speed Demon, convincing Parker to start working with Norman as his new mentor.
  • In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 4, Peter and Doctor Connors are working on a magnetic generator before he's called up to Norman's office.
  • After Peter briefly meets Harry, Norman gets down to business and lays out his vision for what he believes could be a better generation of heroes compared to the current one, one where Spider-Man can essentially become the foundation for the future.
  • Norman and Peter try several different iterations of a new suit before landing on a predominantly white costume with red and blue accents.
  • Lonnie gets caught between the 110th St. gang and their rivals The Scorpions, led by Carmilla Black and Mac Gargan.
  • Dmitri Smerdyakov, Mikhail Sytsevich & Roxanna Volkov are caught and arrested while their partner Mila Masaryk escapes to purchase high-tech weaponry from none other than Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus.
  • Harry Osborn discovers that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
  • In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 5, it's confirmed that Otto is selling his inventions to criminals, wanting recognition for his work and believing he's as smart as Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, or Norman Osborn.
  • Norman decides to make Harry an official part of Team Spider-Man to serve as Peter's "Dude at the Desk" when Norman is unavailable.
  • Lonnie is struggling to make it to football practice due to his time with the 110.
  • Harry and Peter start bonding and becoming friends.
  • As the Unicorn, Mila breaks her fellow Russian thugs out, but Spider-Man arrives. Mikhail is the only one who stays with Mila.
  • Meanwhile, the 110 brawls with the Scorpions, and Lonnie saves Big Donovan's life.
  • Spider-Man saves Mikhail when The Unicorn uses him as bait, prompting Mikhail aka The Rhino to take Mila's helmet and spare Spider-Man's life before both he and Mila are arrested.
  • While Nico was hoping to just see a movie with Peter, Peter invited Harry to come along as well.
  • Impressed by his bravery and saving his life, Big Donovan gives Lonnie the new nickname, Tombstone.

Spider-Man Brand-New Costume Explained

Basically A Foundation For The Future

Spider-Man Future Foundation Suit Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episodes 3:4:5

Because he saved his son Harry, Norman Osborn offers Peter any assistance he can to help make Spider-Man the best superhero he can be in New York. Likewise, Norman envisions a next generation of heroes who can be far better than the current Avengers who are currently embroiled in the Sokovia Accords amid questions of collateral damage and accountability. As such, Norman wants to help Spider-Man get to that next level; to essentially become the foundation for the future of superheroes.

After several suits that prove to be failures, Peter and Norman finally settle on a predominantly white and black suit mirroring the Websligner's classic Future Foundation suit from the comics. However, this version does have its own unique red and blue accents on the sides, suggesting that this is simply a prototype suit before Peter's final and more well-known suit, just like the costume he's been drawing in his notebook. Nevertheless, the current white suit is quite a major upgrade compared to what Peter had been working with on his own.

Lonnie Lincoln's New Name Explained

Is Lonnie Becoming A Classic Spider-Man Villain?

Lonnie Gets Tombstone Name Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episodes 3:4:5

Originally joining the 110th St. Gang to save his brother, it seems as though it's going to be harder and harder for Lonnie to get out of Big Donovan's grip. Not only is he already missing football practice, but it does look as though Lonnie's starting to enjoy the feelings of brotherhood, camaraderie, and protection the gang provides, especially after saving Big Donovan from the Scorpions and earning himself the nickname "Tombstone". As such, it does seem as though things are only going to get worse for Lonnie as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man continues.

Fans of the original comics know that Lonnie Lincoln is the classic New York crime boss better known as Tombstone who runs his operations out of 110th St. As such, Lonnie's new nickname and involvement with the 110 certainly doesn't bode well, and it does seem likely that he may end up leading the gang by the series' end. However, it remains to be seen if Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's Tombstone will eventually gain the same powers he has in the comics from a toxic gas that changes his skin, making him incredibly strong and invulnerable.

What Is Doctor Octopus Planning Next?

Creating All Kinds of Villains With His Tech

Otto Octavius Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episodes 3:4:5

The official debut of Otto Octavius in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 5 is very exciting as well, confirming that he's the brains behind all the advanced robotics and weaponry that's been falling into the hands of New York's various criminals. While his classic mechanical arms have yet to be shown, the future Doctor Octopus very much resembles the original depictions by Spider-Man artist Steve Ditko. Otto's ego is just as gargantuan as it is on the page as well, believing his genius should be revered far more than hacks like Tony Stark or Bruce Banner.

To that end, it stands to reason that Otto is just getting started after effectively creating Butane, Tarantula, Speed Demon, and Unicorn in this alternate MCU timeline. He'll likely be responsible for more villains Spider-Man will have to face by the end of his new series, at least before potentially facing Spider-Man himself with his lethal arms. At any rate, it's going to be very exciting to see where Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man goes next following this new batch of episodes.
