Sex & The City Character Returning For And Just Like That Season 3 After Brief Season 2 Appearance

One Sex & the City character who made a single appearance in the reboot series, And Just Like That..., will be returning for season 3. Led by the same lead cast who popularized the original romantic comedy-drama, the reboot series offers an update on the lives of four best friends: Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Samatha Jones (Kim Cattrall), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) 11 years after Carrie and Big's wedding in the 2008 movie, Sex and the City.

While Samantha is still very much still in Carrie's life, Cattrall is notably absent in the reboot series. The actor has repeatedly expressed that she had no interest in reprising her role, but due to the popularity of the reboot, HBO eventually made a small cameo possible. Cattrall surprised fans with a brief phone call scene in And Just Like That... season 2 finale, though her return to season 3 is unlikely. In season 2, Carrie rekindled with a divorced Aidan (John Corbett), and his past unavoidably brought in another character.

Rosemarie DeWitt Returns For And Just Like That... Season 3

And Just Like That... Season 3 Will Feature Familiar & New Faces

Rosemarie DeWitt is set to return for AndJust Like That... season 3, while Patti LuPone is joining the season as a new cast member. DeWitt joined the cast in season 2 as Aidan's ex-wife, Kathy, a textile designer who he shares three children with. In season 2, Carrie started seeing Aidan again and asked to meet Kathy, who told her not to write about their children in the book. Meanwhile, the two-time Grammy winner, LuPone appeared on the small screens in 2024 as a Sicilian divination witch in Agatha All Along.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the series' executive producer Michael Patrick King confirmed DeWitt and LuPone's appearances in And Just Like That... season 3. King teased that LuPone will have "an arc" in the new season, though details about her role remain under wraps. He also shared that What We Do in the Shadows' Kristen Schaal will appear in the new season.

There's Still Hope Between Aidan And Carrie

And Just Like That... season 2 leaves Carrie and Aidan's relationship on an ambiguous note, with Aidan choosing to prioritize his family full-time and putting his romantic relationship with Carrie on hold. While Aidan assured Carrie that this wasn't another breakup, Kathy's appearance in season 3 confirms that Carrie and Aidan's romance arc is still in the mix. Aidan is back in Virginia and will only be "thinking" of Carrie, but how his plan really pans out will be revealed in season 3.

While the main cast is set to return, Sarah Aubrey's controversial comedian Che Diaz and Karen Pittman's Columbia Law School professor Nya Wallace won't be returning. With both of them tied to Miranda's storyline, it's uncertain what will happen to Miranda in the new season. LuPone and Schaal joining And Just Like That... season 3 cast means changes and new opportunities. LuPone's arc also confirms that her appearance won't only be a cameo but most likely tied in with one of the three friends.
